I don't believe tarot or astrology should run your life.
I believe they can give you another way to look at it.
We already make decisions using many different kinds of information — experience, intuition, observation, conversation, emotion, logic and the patterns we've learned to recognize over time. I approach tarot and astrology as additional tools for reflection: another lens through which to examine what's happening around you and within you.
Think of them less as a map telling you exactly where you must go and more as a temperature gauge showing you something about the conditions you're standing in right now.
I don't use tarot to tell you that you'll marry a wealthy stranger six months from Tuesday.
That's not what interests me about the cards.
I use tarot as a snapshot — a way of exploring the energy, emotions, relationships, possibilities and patterns surrounding a question at a particular moment in time.
A reading may reveal something that immediately resonates. It may introduce a perspective you hadn't considered. Occasionally, it may simply give us a better question to ask.
I don't believe a card removes your ability to choose.
Quite the opposite.
If a reading suggests that the direction you're currently traveling may lead somewhere you don't want to go, that information can become an invitation to make a different choice.
The future isn't something I believe you should surrender to a deck of cards.
Astrology gives me a different kind of lens.
Your birth chart represents the positions of the planets at a particular moment and place in time. I use that symbolic framework to explore personality, relationships, recurring themes, strengths, challenges and periods of change.
Current planetary movements can then be compared with your birth chart to explore the astrological "weather" surrounding a particular chapter of your life.
Weather is actually one of my favorite metaphors for astrology.
A forecast might tell you there's a storm coming. It doesn't tell you exactly what you'll be doing when the rain begins.
You still decide whether to carry an umbrella, change your plans, dance in the rain or stay home.
I pay close attention to patterns.
When the same themes appear repeatedly — through your experiences, relationships, choices, astrology, tarot or simply the story you're telling me — I think they're worth noticing.
Sometimes persistent patterns make certain outcomes increasingly likely. But likely isn't the same thing as inevitable.
That's an important distinction in the way I work.
I may tell you what I see. I may point out where a pattern appears to be heading. I may ask you to consider something you hadn't considered before.
But I won't tell you that the universe has removed your choices.
There are many ways to receive an astrology or tarot reading.
My approach is personal.
I'm interested in the person sitting across from me, not simply the cards on the table or the symbols in a chart. The more context I understand about what you're actually experiencing, the more meaningful our conversation can become.
That's why I generally prefer interactive readings where you're free to ask questions, tell me when something resonates, challenge something that doesn't, and help me understand what you're trying to explore.
I'm not interested in performing certainty.
I'm interested in helping you see your situation through another mirror.
I also believe spiritual tools can become less useful when we surrender too much authority to them.
If you're asking tarot the same question every day because you're afraid to make a decision without another card, the cards may no longer be helping you.
If you're afraid to live your life because of an astrological transit, astrology may no longer be serving its purpose.
I want these tools to expand your perspective, not shrink your freedom.
Use the information. Consider what resonates. Question what doesn't. Combine it with what you already know about yourself and your circumstances.
Then make your own decision.
That's where I believe the real value begins.
I don't present tarot or astrology as scientifically proven methods of predicting future events.
I value evidence, critical thinking and professional expertise, while also believing there is room in a meaningful life for symbolism, intuition, spirituality and reflection.
